man that really blows

He'll cut your throat, baby, stick you in the back, drive off in your Cadillac.
He's more trouble than you think, he'll kill your sugar, leave you in the drink.

Glen Treadwell had a 355 built that the customer never picked up you may try him to see if he still has it

Re: A man's word
I have a beefed up BBC 454
1301 cam, and all the valve springs and rods were upgraded to the specs that summit racing called for. It bolts on the same as a SBC, but it has a lot more power.
I went with a bigger motor, so now it's just sitting here.
I'll let you run it before you pay for it.
It currently has an aluminum performer intake and the headers can go with it.
I was thinking about keeping it as a back up or building another Airboat. But if you're down and need a motor. This 454 will impress. I'm not to worried about price. Run it, if you like it, make an offer.

Re: A man's word
Yep that's for sure a hell of an offer
Re: A man's word
Now there is a man from the complete opposite end of the spectrum than that other *&^$^*(($#@*^%* from Craig's List.
Not only does Pontoon make an excellent point, but I want to point out for the benefit of those who didn't notice . . .
this is a man that joined the board ten days ago, and that the offer made, was his very first post !!
Jason, you've provided a very dismal looking thread with a much welcomed, breathe of fresh air. Thank-you and God Bless You.

Re: A man's word
While this is definitely an option from someone who we don't know from Adam..& is willing to help a fellow airboater..just a little concerned about the weight difference from the small block.. it's only a 12ft glass hull.. from what I'm reading online..saying only 70-100lbs difference.. I'll talk to my buddy after work & go from there

Re: A man's word
And thanks for pointing that out Deano..I hadn't noticed that
Re: A man's word
There is no question that is a valid concern, and one that is admittedly more than passively relevant.
Aft beam and freeboard would both be a consideration, as would operator experience. ..Is it a front driver, if not, could it be?
Some people may say no problem, it's been done many times. I appreciate not pushing anybody beyond their comfort level though.
Looks like you've researched weight a little bit and I haven't, so you're up on me in that regard.
What my Caddy experience will let me share though, is that loosing the cast OEM intake and replacing it with aluminum may have already knocked that difference in half. Those cast iron factory big block intakes are some heavy bastards and comprise a measurable amount of the engines total. That difference may be a little less for that 454 than a 472/500 . . . but maybe not.

Re: A man's word
What I meant was that the stock weight for the engine you looked up, likely included the factory intake.
Since, this one already has aluminum the weight difference would not be as large as that number would seem to imply.

Re: A man's word
Actually it said if you took & replaced the intake with aluminum intake.. aluminum water pump..& mini torque starter that it would be pretty dang close to a stock small block 350
