Bosch jigsaw blade broke and stuck???

Postby gladesman » Tue Sep 05, 2017 1:48 am

Cuttin' a T extrusion today and broke a T slot type blade off in a Bosch 1587AVSP jig saw - with a big knob on top that must be rotated a few times to install and remove blades.

The little piece of the blade left recessed up inside the barrel just won't come out - could use some help/ideas if anyone has run into this problem before. Needle nose don't fit and tweezers don't seem to grip hard enough to push up and twist it 90 degrees to release it.

Link to an ebay ad with a photo of saw http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bosch-SDS-1587VS-Variable-Speed-Jig-Saw-120v-W-Hard-Case-/272787955787

Thanks in Advance for any ideas

I have this same jig saw and love the way it cuts. Most of the time when I break a blade I just loosen it up good and pull the trigger and it comes out. When it does't tweezers usually work. Try the biggest cotter key you can get in it and turn.. Maybe try to break it loose with a ice pick.

Thanks y'all - I'll give it a try.

Video shows a new blade change - no problem on that - just this broke blade that isn't visible below the barrel and recessed.

Eventually solved this problem after hurricane Irma passed.

Took a pair of needle nosed pliers and ground the nose down so as to grab the broken tab that was stuck up in the spindle nose while applying a bit of torque - then hit the trigger and the blade tab spit out.

Other than this problem this saw is a powerful workhorse.

I like mine, have had it for years and it has seen some abuse. Blades are a lot easier to find now than when I got mine.
