So what's going on? The water doesn't seem high enough to keep it closed right now so what's the deal????

You can follow the level here, it's still 0.06 above the closure mark. http://w3.saj.usace.army.mil/h2o/reports/r-wca3.html

:rebel: Which I believe is less than 3/4 of an inch .72 of an inch but then they will have to see less than 10 deer on the L5 or L6 levee before they will open it. :rebel: so who knows when that will be

I've been watching the level since they closed it. When it was higher, they would bring it down 0.02-0.04 feet per day, then stop. It looks like they are leaving the level above the close mark on purpose.

:rebel: My son is down in the reservation now and he told me that it has come up about 1 inch on our water gauge at camp since I was there a couple of weeks back, don't know if is from water being pumped in or just rain. I believe before they use to take the average between 63/64/65 sites which would make it open now but now they only use 63/64 sites which are 2 of the highest sites. Depending on the weather if it keeps dropping maybe they will open it up :rebel: But I am not betting on it

Looks to me like the 62 and 63 are both under the 11.7 number

:rebel: yes PJC the FWC action line kind of leaves me hanging it says 11.6 well is that 11.60 or 11.06. I would take it as 11.60 because of the spacing of the numbers so if that's the case than we only have .04 of an inch to go which is nothing . SO WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS :rebel:

The regional director had used 11.7 as the number in a prior email, he must have been mistaken.

:rebel: I am not sure if this is a good thing or not, says that dry season will start in November and last 6 months that does not sound good. :rebel: and lady black water you would have lost your bet the reservation is still open and have no plan of closing that I have heard of. When they first got enough water to ride it has dropped 2 inches and now it has came back up 1 inch, so I don't see a problem as every one is talking about. :rebel:

Jason my friend as usual we are on the same page. The state of Florida is killing our most important resource, clean water. Too many crucks in politics and most of the population is too distracted with their personal issues to see the big picture. I was holding out hope to be able to do my gator hunt from camp this year but I am thinkin better safe than sorry. So I will most likely be out behind holiday on opening day to get to them before they become too educated. I wish FWC would see their way to letting permit holders to use the area to fill their tags but I think I stand a better chance at winning the lotto (and I don't normally buy tickets). I though maybe since they could now increase the out flow from area 3 and the fact that the water is not much above closure levels. :banghead: :banghead: :violent1: :slap:

The sooner you realize they don't want to open it, the clearer the picture becomes. I've said it once and I've said it a hundred times, they don't want to spend the money patrolling us or dealing with us. Easiest way to do this, close the areas we use. If you can prove me otherwise, I'll listen, but doubt I'll believe you.

Whatever the reason for the closures is, I don't think it has to do with not wanting to patrol us. Those areas are pretty infrequently patrolled as it is, in general. The majority of FWC officer's are not out running airboats, so it's not like that is a huge budgetary concern for them. Not to mention they just bought a new $75,000 diamondback a year or two ago, why spend that money if you're going to enact closures to reduce your need to patrol. My point simply being, I don't think that has anything to do with it.

The problem is a poor deer attitude. Te ten deer you might see on the levy probably came from the west out of the cypress. And I know of no other state where they close a area so deer can rest. Big cypress is closed for a month after hunting season so the deer can rest. High water , keep everyone away so the deer can rest. We have the most rested deer in the country.

Again, until I can see proof, I"m not believing otherwise. They don't want us there FEDERAL and STATE! Show me something, anything that states a deer is stressed by high water leads to high mortality rates and I'll shut up, but until then you all beating your chest about water quality can pound sand for all I care. This closure has 0 to do w/water quality and with deer herd management, it has EVERYTHING to do with the removal of the airboater from the Glades. Prove me wrong...I'm waiting...

Scientific evidence presented by LBW = 0. Show me a study if it's so common sense. Did they not have high water or years of drought before man made the system he has now? What's common sense is it costs less money to monitor less people using an area. Argue that! You can't if you base it on common sense. Your short sighted-ness into who and what I am is why I constantly battle with you. You pigeon hole people into idealogical boxes like most liberals I know and berate them when they don't agree with you. I've never doubted that our problems stem from many factors, but what I've done is been lambasted by you for simply pointing out the fact that FWC did not have to close 3A when they did and they should have already opened the area back up if they were doing as Scotty said and following their guidelines of opening/closing based on water elevation. I don't think that airboats really stress deer that much. They hear them constantly and they constantly live in a state of fear. Unless you can find me a deer psychologist that says otherwise your common sense on deer stress can be found in a pile in a cow pasture. Airboats have 0 to do w/water quality, the Cape Sable Sea Side Sparrow, or the fact the ACOE won't send water south through ENP. Nope, not buying what you're shoveling. They want us out, as Rich has said, and they are using whatever tools they have at their disposal to get the job done. That's common sense I can believe in...

:rebel: lbw that is not a very good answer and to sum us all up as just air boaters well that's just horse shit. when I am in the woods if I see trash ill put it on my boat and haul it out, and the camp we keep nice and clean and haul all the trash out. I believe that high water stress deer out ,but drowning them is not the answer. When we go to camp its usually a family thing and we stay for several days at a time, we don't chase the deer we observe them when we do see one which is not often. I see on your profile it says that you are 32 if this is rite I've been in the woods longer than you are old and have kids older than that so I don't think there is any thing you can teach me . I am to old to learn. I respect my fellow air boaters until they give me reason not to. but I do not respect F.W.C., ACOE, NPS or any other organization that is messing with the everglades cause 9 times out of10 they will screw it up. :rebel:
