Quick connect for airboat flag

Post by Graggy14 » Wed Jun 13, 2018 12:35 pm

I’m sure somebody on this site has come up with a easy way to put your flag on and off your airboat. Some kind of quick connect. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks I’m new to this.

Use an air chuck or sleeve with a pin. Lots of ways to do it, just a matter of preference.

Funny!
Used the pass thru flag older until the liability caught up with drilling them out! Used and still using the lighted neon flag from, someone remind me?
And really like the simple 5 inch of 5/8 ss welded to cage to be proper legal.
Probably could do the same with a couple worm clamps but Hey, many options so all those kayakers can see you coming to run over or not?

You sir, are a thinker. I agree with your assessment in it's entirety.

Can't tell you how often I see those things where the required remainder of the running lights are missing/inoperable.
If I tried that, I wouldn't make it to the first bend.

Yep we try to only run our lighted whips when running switch cane and tall trails. Public waterways its nav lights only. We only run headlights and LEDs when not in the main channel to help navigate. Any light other than nav lights on the main channel will get you a ticket here in LA and TX.

Been running air chucks for 20+ years.... Mount the chuck on the cage and epoxy the flagpole to the coupler and all good.

I used a combination of a SS spring holder and a quick release. Welded the SS bolt to spring holder and used grinder to cut it down to fit in push-button style quick release. Now have quick release and flag flexes back with no issue and flag can't slide through holder.
Had it for over 5 yrs.

Got tired got break them off and the Spring holder had a thumb turn set screw that was a pain as well.
