Hey Russ. Saw your videos. Your Ecotec boat is unstoppable. Impressive thrust. My tired O-470 would have cooked if I ran it hard like that.
Makes me want to start looking and planing a repower project.

Good engines for sure if setup properly. We ran dry like that all the way to the oak head and then the south end of lake washington before 192 that day. Then we turned around and came back to 520 running normal wet path.

The ecotec powered palm beach style hull behind me burned 18 gallons total for the day.

What's not to love? :toothy7:

If you look on the Palm trees the high water mark is 4 foot from where it is now. Crazy how high it was a couple months ago

That boat is a high speed John Deere. I have been running ac for 30 yrs. I’m ready to trade my jug wrenches in for a Bow Tie cooler cup LOL. That boat is a beast!!!

I say that boats bad. I am happy to a point with my AC. It could be a few 100 lbs lighter and smaller.

And in the beginning of the Eco Techs they laughed at Chuck Rackley with his vision, who's laughing now???

Are they finally making those Eco-Techs reliable? What's the largest boat you would put one on?

Always have been reliable. Bad tunes and people building "ecotec" engines out of naturally aspirated 2.4L LE5 motors and slapping a turbo on it are the cause of most engine failures.

So, yep, they are "finally" reliable now that the tune can be done by yourself and people generally stop trying to do it better than GM did by turbo charging non performance engines like the LE5.

All of the LHU and LTG boats I know of are rock solid.

Mine has been run pretty good since 2012 and I have the wick turned up power wise. My boat weighs around 17xx lbs totally dry with no fuel or tools etc.

Typical running weight varies from 2000 to 2500 lbs.

Boat size can be determined based on that fairly well.

Possible to build one with plug and play parts these days and zero tuning required if you need around 300hp. Tuning required to go over that power level.

So, there you are.

:salute:

I saw an Eco Turd pull an airboat back to the ramp one day. The Eco Turd got the boat being pulled on plane.

Looking at building a 14x8 Diamondback. Probably not enough motor for that boat correct (deep sided boat)?
