I keep a box of supplies on the boat at all time. Generally a simple set of tools, some basic replacement parts and what not. I always bring extra food and water and if possible keep a gun on the boat while I run it if it is allowed. Besides that I keep a thermal blanket and a satalite phone so I can keep in contact with people, even out of cell range. I airboat out mostly in Area 3a, I know the area well enough I barely use my GPS. I never run at night though.

Wayne:

Under “forums” there is an Airboat Safety folder. Look at the first file called Airboat do’s and dont’s.

Wealth of information in there. The top left icon is the gateway to other forums here

Good sliding

Thanks Airhog
I thought I had seen it somewhere on here a while back but couldn't find it by searching. Its winter here so was thinking about putting together a dry box kit.

X2 on the Inreach, it's the cheapest solution to get 2 way sat coms. It is not a phone, but it is a GPS with 2 way texting. $15/month for the safety plan, good for 10 texts per month (50 cents/text after). Never had to use it for an emergency, but it is cheap insurance.

Just don't let your daughter borrow it unless you upgrade the plan to unlimited for $70/month! You can change the plan every month and at $70/month the unlimited plan is cheaper than international cell plans or paying for cruise ship wifi.

It started with basic tools and grew to fill a 3’ dry box. After a while I went to pick up that box and realized I needed to go through it. Ended up getting rid of a bunch of stuff. Now it is growing again and probably needs another cleaning.

One thing I have to consciously remember is a lighter. Ever since I quit smoking that one has bitten me a few times.
