Been running automotive fuel pumps with a in line regulator set at 2 1/2. Also I do not have a water separator I know I need one. The problem I'm having is I keep going threw fuel pumps I think 4 in the last 6 months. Should I stay away from them and buy The carter pump from diamond back? She that fix the problem?
Bendix is a good pump. I have heard carter ain't what they used to be. I personally use a Bendix, not sure model number on both my boats. One has aircraft carb, one has a 500 Holley. Don't have a regulator on either boat. I have never needed one.
Need more info, how is it mounted? Electric fuel pumps are designed to push fuel, not draw it from the tank. The closer to the tank you can mount it the better. Does the tank have a pickup tube that draws from the top, or is the outlet mounted low (gravity fed). I run a Carter on one boat (car motor) and a Facet on the other boat (6cyl AC), no problems with either and both are well over 3 years old.
