Boat Ramps
Boat Ramps
First I want to thank water management for the boat ramps that we have, they seem to be in most of the places people want to ride. But would it be such a big deal to provide a way to tie up a boat? Maybe put your signs a little closer to the water . Maybe a pipe or 4X4. Wouldn't take much and you wouldn't have to worry about your boat when you park your truck.
Re: Boat Ramps
I wouldn't go thanking them just yet … between them and the FDOT... they are in the process of shutting down and removing ramps that give us access to the areas we ride. The ramps in question are the ones along US 27 on the west side, one is already shut down. They are in terrible shape and nobody wants to take the responsibility to fix and maintain them.
SFWMD wants noting to do with the ramps, nor does the County or FDOT.

Don't need a ramp just a parking lot.
Re: Boat Ramps
Do they want to shut them down because of trash and garbage people dump out? I know of ramps that have been closed due to this.
Re: Boat Ramps
One of the reasons they are giving is due to the trash, with no contract for a company to pick up, along with the dumping that occurs. The other reason is the ramps are in very bad shape, with no contract to have someone to repair or replace them.
The FDOT contract states that if the ramps can not be used or are closed they must be totally removed and the levy system put back in.

Re: Boat Ramps
Yea it’s a shame. Everyone wants to talk about being able to ride everywhere and have all the lands. Then they freakin throw trash all over. When the waters low, you can follow a trail of beer cans out. Really making a good statement about why we should get to have all this freedom.
Then you got a holes runnin and gunnin everything in sight with no regard for others.
O well. Sounds like a good ole fashion lake cleanup is in order
