Orvill & Wilber

Postby K-mac » Sun Sep 05, 2010 8:45 am

A stray thought just ran through my head.
What if the Wright Bros. had stuck to bicycles, and no one
had yet come up with idea of powering a flying machine with
an internal combustion engine.
With the noise intolarant becomeing greater in numbers, and
becomeing more politically powerful as time goes on, I can't
help but wonder that if the air plane had not yet been invented
would we be forever anchored to the ground? or at least untill
some one came along with the silent air plane.
I mean think about it, can't you invision some nosey
neighboor fileing a complaint with the town concil to have
Orvill & Wilber shut down because of the noise.
I guess it's a good thing the world was not as populated
back then. Maybe Oceola Co. would ban airplanes, and demand
all air traffic fly around their quiet, peasefull county.
I'm sorry guys, I haven't had my coffee yet.
If the south would'a won we'da had it made!

Glad you brought it up Kmac as a matter of fact there were noise complaints that is why we had to move out to kill devil hill to finish the testing. I told wilbur and orville that thney needed a sensenitch super wide swept tip on that thing with a 3 to 1n stinger box but they wouldn't listen ... nope and I told them flex pipe does not a muffler make.. but they wouldn't listen again ... But that was then and this is now ... whats that sound aw hell its the alarm clock .. gotta wake up .. crap and it was a good dream I had goin ...

But seriously .... airplanes are being forced into more noise issues than we are and they are having to address the prop sound big time over in england some of them guys have come over here and bought property in these airstrip housing developments so they can fly .. they limit the number of planes over there and there is a waiting list to get to fly your own plane ...so it can and probably will get worse here
Don't waste your time ... it is the only thing you can't get more of
.. if it accidentally looks like I gave advice please ignore it .. and notify me immediately

It's not just the sound, boys. Now the FAA is considering having a 'sniffer' style tester of the exhaust included in the annual inspection on a private airplane. What if you owned a small airplane and weren't allowed to fly it because it's emissions were too high ?

rumor has it .. airboats built after 2010 are going to have to meet emission standards as well ol fart... that is why panther and alumitech have been working on emission compliant engine packages .. the days of the homemade boat are fading fast ...
