500 caddy with 40 series flows

Postby cummins diesel power » Sat Jan 15, 2011 11:59 am

Thinking of putting some 40 series flowmaster's
on my boat. Has headers, down to pipe then mufflers,
I have a 500 caddy. How will that set up sound with
the flows. I want kind of a deep, kind of mean sound.
not looking for loud tho

I did this...its loud! Try the 50's....or the stainless 3" summits. The dynomax are also good compromise....

2.5 silverlines with a 72 q prop, yes its loud on the exaust when you leave from dry ground, but when you move that kind of air anything will be loud.

I've run Flowmasters, Magnaflows and have ended up using the Hush Thrush mufflers for pretty much the reasons you stated, although my primary concern was with quiet.

Mine has the reputation for being the quietest boat around here.
Maybe I should mention they are mounted to the headers (even though that won't work, bla bla bla).
For DD RPMs this doesn't really present a problem, with a box I would mount them differently.

It will get loud if you drive it loud, but if you're being mellow it very readily co-operates.
