STEALTH PROPS!!!

Postby cowboy316 » Fri May 06, 2011 1:24 pm

anyone see the pics of the stealt helicopter that crashed will exacuting the towl head? They said the tail rotor couldnt be heard w/moderate back ground noise? I have seen it, it dosent look like it would be hard to try and start figuring things out. Maybe a prop guy could do some product testing I would be willing to try them out. If they can make a chopper that quit why not our boats?
The center had disc's on it with only a small amount of the blades sticking out????

I have seen some ''new'' blades and they are still loud, maybe not Huey loud, but you're not going to be sneaking up on me in one. There are well over 40+ chopper on my base of all sorts and I can tell you what is flying over without looking.

FYI did you know we gave our probably last remaining Huey's(UH-1) in the army to the Iraqis? There are a bunch on my base here in Iraq.

Were those the UH-1D model Single Engine Coppers we gave away?

Were doing them no favor giving them away as the normal Maintenance on those things can be close to or over a Million a year per each machine. That's assuming you are buying the expertise for maintenance. That's why all the PDs and Rescue Life Flights got rid of them almost as soon as they got them. the actual dollar amount may not be accurate but it is high!

I still see the odd twin engine version now and then, but even they are out of favor with most chopper operators.

Whitebear it sounds to me like we just wanted to keep the Bell parts suppliers in business. Now if we could get them to actually PAY for the parts with some of that oil money...
If I would have known the air was so thin here, I would have bought more blades...

Roter blades on helo do not provide lift, they simply move the tail end back and fourth for stearing, don't need near the lift capacity as the big blades. Like compairing apples to oranges. Bud
