What's the water like?

This one's over, but you can still read about it here.

Just came back from 5 days of hunting the milk bus area... starting to get very dry. For those who can run dry no problem , for those who can't be very carfull about any trail behind the ridge. it may start out with some water but will soon run out. the trail on the inside of the pig trail still has water so you can take it as a short cut to north cove and then on to Gardeners marsh for now. I have to go back and put food in my feeders and do some more hunting the weekend of the 8th but I camp on the ridge so I look forward to meeting all that I can. If I can help with any directions I will I know every part of that area all the way through the marsh to lake cypress and Hatchneeha. good luck :)

Tide Runner, thanks for the update.

I've heard it's getting pretty dry out there. Good for hunting.

How is the trail up to the square pond? Is it completely dry or can most boats still get there?

BPS, I/m not familair with that name? are you talking about the catfish pond in the marsh? if so you can still run with little problem... some streaches of dry but most boats can run it . they have had some rain there the last few days so maybe it will stay in the trail. or if thats not the pond you are talking about then tell me where it is and I'll let you know if I/ve been there.

TR, yep that's it. We just use a different name I guess. Hopefully, that trail will stay just wet enough for a good ride.

BPC, You will be able to ride from the milk bus to Hatchnena now, but a week from now if there is no rain, the old sticky grass and black mud will be showing thier face :)

Just got back from the lake today. The water is down but there is still some good trail riding. From the bus to the catfish pond (or square pond) is about 2 inches of water except for 1 place with about 20 yrds or so of dry ground ( sorry, Mood). Maybe we'll get some rain before then.

Gardner was actually wetter than I thought but still wasn't "flooded". If you can run dry for short stretches you'll be fine just like TR said.

Was on the marsh Monday evening for a nature tour. Saw at least 60 turkeys - four different very healthy flocks, 4 deer, eagles and plenty of birds. Got drenching rain there last evening, night and all day today. The marsh will be easier to run than in all of September, I believe.
