This is all I saw anything else?

Legal to Hunt – Deer with at least 1 antler having 3 or more points (each point 1-inch or
more in length) OR a main beam length of 10 inches or more

I hope that all of you belong to some type of sportsman club that informs you of any rule changes that pertain to hunting and fishing in the state. Statewide, the antler point restrictions were changed for the upcoming hunting season in most of the state. Most of the state went to 3 points on one side or a main beam of at least 10.5 inches. This was done after almost a year of meetings, surveys, etc. All info was available to the public and comments were taken at those meetings as well as on the FWC website. The reason for the change was hunter satisfaction and to harvest older bucks.
Be sure and check the regulations for your area before the season starts.

On private land it use to be a week in the state, they cut that back. I think we still have 2 days out there.

I hope it works to get more bucks but I doubt it they did same thing in PA about ten years ago and you see less deer than before while on stand. But they do kill more does than ever before but with only 2 days here don't know what result will be? Time will tell in mean time those of us that hunt public land probably got a few years where we won't even se a leagal buck let alone get the chance to harvest one!

It use to be about 5-6 days of doe week in Seminole county during thanksgiving week. Looks like they changed it to about 4 days and ONLY on private property, not public land. Gonna be a crappy year for hunting.. Unfortunately, all I got to hunt is public land and with out doe days, I wouldn't get half the deer I do. :violent1:

The land will only sustain so many deer. Removing the does makes room for more bucks! FWC thinks if you protect the bucks they will get bigger and thats not the case we have seen hunting several states and having a few leases. Big bucks(antlers) need a plentiful food source year around. Florida needs to harvest does.

i understand the concept of fwc changing rules so the younger bucks have a chance to grow, what i dont get is the way the rules read in archery, anterless deer including bucks & does with antlers less than 5in in length,so you still can shoot a young buck with a horn less than 5in & i guess its considered a doe than doesnt make since to me!

It's hard to see 1 or 2 inch spikes even at 30 yards, that's why deer with antlers less than 5 inches are considered antlerless, as a protection from penalty for mistakenly shooting spikes. Not to encourage shooting them.

Just once. It was at a managent area with a check station. If not for the rule I would have had to leave it or get cited.

It was about 100 yds when I shot it and I had absolutely no idea it had a set of 3/4" horns 'till I recovered it.

I don't understand the attraction to antlers. I guess its like catch and release don't get that ether.

The problem with upper St. John's is there isn't any check stations. I have only seen one 2 law man up river when I was hunting. I have hunted on the river for over 12 year. And the 2 I seen were 5+ years apart.

Wanna see FWC in the upper st John's? It's not hard. Go opening day of duck season. Or go 50 yds up a canal during gator season.

Wanna not see FWC in the upper St John's? Even easier!! Go when there is dew on the ground and no season open.

Continental, I hear ya buddy.
