Stihl Chainsaw for camp

I'm thinking about getting a chainsaw for my hunting camp in georgia and it would be nice to have if we get it bad from hurricane matthew as well. I'm between the stihl MS-250 and the MS-291. let me know what yall recommend for a general use saw that may get some heavy action once a year.

I got a farm boss back in 2005. It still runs and I love that it will get it done.
Just a few new chains and one general maintenance plus fixing the pull cord is all i have had to do in 11 years.

I believe it's better to have a bigger one and not need it than have a smaller one when you need a bigger one.

I am in the landscape business and have a few of both of those models. Whichever one you get, get the aggressive chain from the dealer if they have it. Not the anti-kickback safety chain. Night and day difference. The 250s are the ones my guys grab most of the time.

Farm Boss, definitely. BTW, I have a little 015 Stihl that's over forty years old now and still does a fine job too for lighter work.

I have a tree company and have used stihl for 20 yrs.. do yourself a favor and get an even number saw like a 260 or 026 depending on the year. They are much stronger and commercial grade trust me when I say there is a huge difference and the 260 is what I keep in my personal truck, airboat, and ranger

I cut fire wood for a lot of years up here in Georgia when I was younger and I have tried them all as far as
Chain saws go, finally figured out the best advice was from the guys that use Chain saws every day pulp wooder's and they were right, Stihl is a good saw but they can't hold a candle to a Husqvarna as long as you get one that's made in Sweden
I had Stihs and they are good saws and I have one my brother gave me but Huskys cut two to three times faster and I have owned over a dozen of them over the years all sizes and never had a minutes problem out of any of them but there is a difference in Huskys they have home owners saws and they have pro saws, those are the ones built in Sweden
Stihl offers the same thing if you do your research the Best Stihls are the ones Built in Germany, I promise you if you going to use the saw a lot its worth the little extra money to get one of the better saws, but if your just going to just cut a limb onece in a while the just go with what the cheapest

If you choose Sthil ask the dealer if the "double warranty" is applicable.

With most Sthil power equipment if you purchase a 6 pack of the "ultra" synthetic oil at the same time you purchase the saw the dealer can enter it for a warranty twice what the normal period is. I bought a Sthil blower last week and it came with a 4 year warranty, can't complain about that and the oil was only about $15.

ebay on german made stihl chainsaw/non emisson models,some people still selling new ones left over,great saws.I ended getting 460 magnum/28in

I have older one. They say its better than the farm boss. Its 24 inch bought it for charley aftermath still works great. Its done tons of wood.
They defiantly are work horses.

I got 2 farm bosses on 05, and they were worth every penny still running strong.

It appears that the part numbers may have recently changed but that said Rural King the farm and feed outlet has the Sthil MS250 on sale today for $299 if anyone is looking for a new chain saw.
