Lycoming

Postby PBK-TarponSpgs » Tue Jul 10, 2018 2:38 pm

Any chance I'm in the right place?

I'm an airplane guy, building a "Cozy" composite canard. I'm coming to a point in the process where it would be helpful to have a "template" engine that I can hang and use while working on cowling, baffling, cables, etc. In pieces on the bench is a wide deck, angle valve IO-360, so that's the engine I'm looking to template. Do you have something red-tagged, seized, or that spent a few years on the lake bottom? otherwise headed to the recycling center? Cracked cylinders? you get the idea.

I've done one airboat ride in my life and had a great time, while seeing things I'd otherwise have missed in life. Thanks for all you do.

Regards, PBK, Tarpon Springs, FL

You might try some of the people who advertise in the airboat directory. Tell them what you said here. One with a hole through the case is fine.
Or you could buy a airboat with a 0360 on it, use to do what you want to do then resell it. But be careful you might try it out and lose interest in the plane.

I could be wrong but I've had 2 h2ad motors & was told they are a mount of their own..but now I'm having a wide deck 0360 built as we speak and thought I was gonna have to change my engine stand but builder told me that the wide deck 0360 is the only motor that will bolt to my stand that the h2ad motor was on..so hopefully I'll get lucky in that aspect

Did you ask the builder if he had any suggestions for a mock up case?

The front mounts will work but you will need to have a tail mount made
