Sounds like the 145hp continental, which is a small, one carb, and dual mags. I would imagine if the boat would run alot better by simply adjusting the prop, it would be done JMO. As for the mag issue, the RPM's should drop when one mag is turned off, and that might make it run rough, but it shouldnt pop. Popping =$$$. Doesnt sound like the boat should run the hill with 2 people.
when in doubt power out.

That was just my opinion of a cont. o-300 on a 12.5 ft hull. The best thing to do in your situation is to let the owner know he should adjust the prop and have it ready to test run on wedsnesday, so you can see first hand. Good luck.

I'am sure he wants to sell it as bad as you want to get it, so he should take care of the prop pitch, and have it ready.

just my 2 cents but a buddy of mine had an 0300 on a 11'5" full deck over and it was all that it wanted to do to run the hill at all,we ended up putting a spray rig on it to make it slide on the hill.that was with just 2 people on the boat,he also just kept putting money into the motor--mags and cylinders--but like i said- JMO

The O-300 is a great 145 HP engine. There are no upgrades to get anymore horse power, so, all you get is 145 horses. It sounds like the mags just need to be rebuilt and it will be a nice motor for a 10 or 11 foot boat. There is no way that he has two carbs on that engine. It should have one Marvel Shebler MA-3SPA carburetor. If he has two carbs then something is very wrong. Post some pictures if you can. Parts are available and cheap compared to a Lycoming.

That beats anything I have ever seen. Too much Afro Engineering for me. Looks like it is WAY over-carburated. Headers are somewhat unique as well. Were it "I" who was looking, I think I would pass on that one. Not telling anyone its a good or bad boat, just what I would do.

What the heck is that ? Two 2300 Holleys and a Turbo on top? Even if you ran that wouldn't you need a balance tube?

Thats different for sure it has a belt driven super charger on top that looks like it has a shaft running to the back of the motor to turn the super charger off the crank. Some one put a lot of time in to it. Dont really get the 2 carbs seems like it would run better if they made the intake for a single carb. I would pass on that one.
