Ross was right my dad's motor is a bone stock O-470-J. I built it for him and for what ever reason theat thing runs (real tight tolerences per Jr. Jurnigan). Beat a lot of 540 boats! I think it is the hull myself that makes it run so good. As for Vostals boat, it had a 0290 at first then we took it off and put a O-360 angle valve motor on it(200hp). That little step boat for 14,500 is a bad A$$ hull, it's carbon fiber. I bought it from Billy Williard a few years back and had my O540 on it! It did not float very well with that motor on it. I couldn't get out of the drivers seat or unload it at the ramp without taking water over the transom! I wish I would have still had my nasty little 200 to put on it.

Thanks Chester for the help...on this...Quick question...What's the difference between an 0-470 ground power vs an 0-470 aircraft are'nt they the same motor or am i wrong...or is one considered air worthy? I decided that's what i want next for a boat and just trying to figure out which one would be best and cheapest to push my big a$$ around lol

Short answer, 470 AC has stronger parts, little more horsepower.

Yep, Like Geoff said + aircraft is lighter overall but more money. Same exact cubic inches. Groundpower will probably be your best bet unless you find a deal on an aircraft engine. 
Ground powers can be worked with... the 520 conversion that Speed Whillie does is SWEET.

Seems I remember a thread here a while back that said the GPU has smaller/thinner? bearings compared to the aircraft O-470. Might wanna check that out. I think the thread was about 2 years back maybe.

Not sure on that bear but I know I did take the weights off of my dad's crank. It seems to snap up quicker.

Thanks for the help and everyones input on this topic it really helped me understand a little more about these motors...Maybe one day i'll buy a c/m boat and experience how it is over on the " DARKSIDE " ...any suggestions on what prop would work best for a dd setup on a 0-470 on a 12'-13'x7 glass hull? I like warp drives but they're a little on the loud side are they're any other props that perform like a warp drive but without the pissed of bumble bee noise?

Yea i hear ya on that Chester...Anyways how was your Thanks giving did you go up to virginia and get any hunting done this year? also hows Mikey and your dad been hav'nt seen yall in a good while hav'nt seen you or Sandy since that night we were hanging out up at Roundup that one night we were hanging out by Lous bar...I'm not living down by yall anymore I moved up here in West Delray Beach with my girl...Hows the woods have yall been to camp lately? thay are 360 cin 200hr a real good ferind of mine has one on a 12' aluminum bouat wheth a 2 blad and it runs like a bad out of H#L* so i dont think u wood have eney whereys and the moters are very good i think
