220 g.p.u. spark plug gap

I'm running champion d-16's in my 220...can someone tell me what to gap my plugs at? Thanks

I like to run around .018" gap..... most gpu's seem to start and idle better with a tight gap.

That's due to the fact that most non electronic mags make a small spark at lower rpm. 18 to 22 thousands works for most aircraft engines.
Compromise is failure on the installment plan.

i set mine at .25 . you need a little bit bigger gap on those oil blowing engines.to little of gap and they'll clog with oil and not fire.just my exp.

i ran my 220 at 35 thousanths worked great and in an ac motor 28-30 works good

I always gapped at 35 also

rotors and distributor blocks last longer with 018-022 :mrgreen:

Everyone runs their own plug sthat they like. I run Nippodenso L14U's my self(or I did). Other numbers are champion d16 (normal engine) d21 (oil burner), c87 ac delco, a6 I think is ngk, there are a few more too.

JASOND THE B8RS plugs were the oem plugs on the gpu they are an aircraft style plug with an automitive type electrode el reno avaition in el reno ok used to sell them as surplus parts for 6 bucks a piece but if you dont have aircraft plug wires they wont do you much good and i am not sure el reno still has them they told me they were getting hard to find 2 years ago

put some solid core automotive wires in the caps and run auto plugs they are way more available and cost effective! :D
