What is your "cruising" rpm range?

Post by GeeLeDouche »

I'm trying to figure out where I should be with my cruising rpms, after I get on plane.. So I was curious of what most of you run rpm wise after getting up on step. If you would be so kind to let me know what rpm you run and see good results, I would appreciate it.

Thanks guys!

my gpu..1500rpm is the lowest it will stay on plane in shallow water... as far as crusing speed it really depended on my friends and how fast they are going...deep water: 1700-2200rpm is what we uselly cruse at.. that all depends on weight, my friends and how deep it is that day... some i ride with go soooo slow and some like to hall azz every where...

Sure would help if you mentioned aircraft or C/M... I would have thought since you put it in the Aircraft Section, you would be talking bout an A/C motor..............................

Anyways, you got a good bit of numbers now to go by...

35 hp briggs and stratton 1.7 reduction 3 blade 61" warpdrive ... cruises at 2700 ... very light boat

160 lycoming 70 inch whisper tip narrow cruises at 1400 to 1600 depending on water depth on a 300lb all composite stephull ..

now for the kicker ....

if it is an a/c engine your engine rpm and prop rpm is the same .. right ?? no take your engine rpm on the reduction units and divide it by the gear ratio and your gonna find the same basic prop rpms across the board ... hull design load and water conditions will be the minor differences ... just a thought

briggs above 2800 divided by 1.7 equals 1588 prop rpms ... aint that a hoot .. LOL
