Send a pm to GKA0540 If Im not mistaken he has built his own kits, and build engines too.

Try Gary Armstrong (GKAO540) on here. He has a good system that he puts together. From what I hear he has very good results on economy and power.

Have been running the old Charlie Bass electronic ignition for 17 years on my 0540. Renewed internal electronic modules after the first 9 years and have had to change more out as time goes by. Overall it's been great but nobody near here can work on them. Would like to find some old discarded systems or new just for parts if anyone knows where some might be. Did get one from Jr Jurnigan. Thanks Jr.

You might try these folks. Also maybe Jeggs.

Pro-Tronics part #'s:

Cap - 022-1602
Rotor Kit - 020-1003
Igniter - Module 4 Marine

Pro-Tronics 1-800-827-3758

I've got a pair setting around somewhere for a 6 cylinder but never used them. What do you think of them? Plug gap?

I have Electromotive XDI and love it! Its triggered by a Magnet and wheel so no gear slop timing lag. Never ran the boat with Mags so not sure on the power or economy gain but it snaps my 80inch R set at 24.7 degrees like its not even there! Im sure the gear box and supercharger doesnt have anything to do with it

Believe it or not, WaterThunder has done quite a bit of research and testing on A/C electronics .... both ignition and fuel injection.

Pirate...have been getting my parts from Pro-Tronics. They have been helpful and seem like very good guys. Just would like to have another spare housing. The plug ( Denso ) gap is set at .0040 as per Charlie Bass. They have been as close to trouble free as best you can get and always fire up the engine. I've come home on one mag several times but just change out the ignitors, coil, rotor, and cap. I don't know how to test for the problem so just change everything and get going right away again. Also the engine timing can be done with a regular timing light. I'd be interested in purchasing your stock ones if you're selling.
Thanks for your comment

Gary can you change the timing on your set up just by turning a dial?

Qwikdiesel, yes just turn the knob, adjustable from 0-30 degrees. it starts the engine at 4 degrees and then goes to where ever you have the dial set at once the engine rpm hits 400. theres a lot you can do with this system but i suck at typing :? , if you have any questions or i can help you out with anything just give me a call, thanks Gary
