Sensenich NGH vs others

Post by SDeatherage » Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:31 pm

Not trying to start a war. Please only educational experienced comments. I have a strong 520 with a Sensenich three blade H on a 13'6" alumitech. I like the blade but always looking for the best hill performance prop. I don't care about top end speed. I want great hill running push and cruise rpm. Whats your experience and suggestions. I don't mind paying but not unless it's better performing. I have a 3 blade hub so the NGH is very appealing. And it was recommended by Dan but others say the Q is what I need. Even have a few saying power shift. Whats your thoughts?? Thanks for sharing your experience.

I JUST bought my 2 blade NGH and LOVE it. I was in the same predicament as you and chose the NGH over the Q. I just have a 220 GPU on a 14 seminole and go pretty much where ever I want....so far. I did get stuck in a fire break this past weekend but that was my fault for trying to turn in the break. I got wedged pretty hard. I ran the woods all day with all of the other boats and I had two adults and two full grown labs onboard. Along with 3 batteries trolling motor etc...

Get with Dan and try the Q & NGH. That 3 blade H is a fast prop, typically have to spin them up high to get the boat to break loose on dry from what i have seen. I have the NGH and would not trade for anything at this point.

im like you i like a strong hill boat , last year i ran the cypress, the ngh, the q. and the signature.
my experiance was the water walker props where the best hill runners the ngh a close second, the q not so good, these were all two blade

Bruce when I got the boat it was at 8.5 degrees and spinning 2600. I set it to 6.5 degree spinning 2900 and put some jack in it and it is great now. Maybe i'm crazy for thinking of changing, but i thought it might be even better. FL cracker do you have to spin the NGH up to break loose or do they push at lower rpm?

There was not much difference between the NGH and the Q when breaking loose on dry. Noticable Difference in the mid range cruise and top end. For my boat to be faster on top over the Q means it pushes harder in my book! The Q being wider of the 2 you would think the Q pushed better but is does not. Talk to people that have owned both and they will tell you that the Q falls off on the top.

I have a 520 and had a 72'' 3 blade H and when I had it turning about 2850 on water it did real good but I thought the NGH would be better so I tried that and IMO it was just queiter then the H at the same RPM. the 2 blade 74'' NGH is queiter then the 3 blade and I think it pushes just as good the NGH is a good mid- top end prop again thats just my opinon. I have a 74'' 2 blade Q and that has all the bottom push I need but I do notice that it does not have the snap that the H and NGH has.I think I'm going to stick with the Q for now untill something better comes along

I switched from the Q to the NGH,, the Q had great bottom end, but i went from 7 gallons and hour to 5 with the NGH,, I have to run it like an old stick prop, turn it a little harder on the hill, but I haven't gotten stuck yet and loving the improved gph! I'm loving it !

Plum, you were testing these on a 4-cylinder? I have a 200 and I'm due for a new prop. I have had 3 different 70" signatures and loved them all. I have wondered if I should go with a 68 like water walker recommends.

I run a 2 blade 72" Water Walker Sig series on my 220. I had a stick prop before and its night and day. The signature series kicks serious butt!

Im in the same boat. I have an upstack 200 and currently redoing my whole boat. I have to choose a prop soon. I had a cut down warp drive to 60". Yeah can you believe that. Just sold the hub so now I really ned a prop. Im undecided between a sensenich 66"-68" ngh or the sensenich saber blades. ahhh. I wish I can try them both and then choose the best one.

i loved my 68 cypress, currently running a 70 signature its good too but lost some snap but it slow crawls on the ground, always felt like i was gonna get stuck with the q. the ngh is a fuel saver , and a great cruser prop , but i think it needs a light boat to be a ground runner , the 68 cypress was built for a 150 to 200 4 cylinder very good prop

My buddy has a 300 AV with a 74" NGH on a lazer, we can put my self 240lbs, and 2 of my buddy's which both 240lbs each and the boat is freaking rocket on the ground. Very impressive!

How about some input on the whisper tip? I hear they have great customer service and was hoping to hear some good news about them. I know southern style runs one on his boat and he loves it and says its so quiet him and his wife don't even use ear protection.

Ive got my H spinning around 2900/3000 and to me its impressive on dry ground and pulls real hard from a cruise speed of 2000 rpm. I like it a lot. But that nasty a$$ green stuff is hard on it. However, I have seen some real powerful boats getting stuck spinning in circles in it lately. Thats what I was hoping to be able to improve on. Im not sure if the NGH would help push thru it more or if a whisper tip two blade or even the Q. But Im overall very happy but if I was going to improve on it what would be the one to help defeat that nasty a$$ green stuff???
