0320 oil in cylinders

Post by chevy01 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:48 pm

my friend just bought a boat with a 0320 the guy told us the top end was just redone it has 0435 jugs on it. we put fresh plugs in it we can drive it for two minutes and it starts running ruff when we take out the lower plug on the back left cylinder and it is saturated with oil. i was told we had to wait for the rings to seat. just seems like that is too much oil getting in the cylinder.

i wouldnt think it had 0435 cylinders on a 0320, and oil can only come from two places, rings , and valve guides! may have 480 cylinders on it though! (guessing )

Something must be off.
I'm breaking in 2 overhauled cyls right now with mineral oil and I'm not experiencing any oil problems.
Pull one off and see what the deal is.

That's what I figured a couple people told me it was the rings and valves seating. Just seamed like to much oil
