520 conversion

Post by Cs225 » Tue Jun 04, 2013 6:51 pm

I have a 220 gpu that is tired and needs rebuilt. Thinking of doing a 520 conversion looking for some insight. Some people tell me that the bottom end of the motor won't hold up but it seems everybody has different opinions. Any advise would be helpful.

The bottom ends will hold up if you have the right crank (stanard steel) not cromed back to standard or even a 10 under as long as it was turned correctly and is a steel crank do not have a run of the mill automotive shop turn your crank because they will not do it correctly. I am not sure were you are located but give Abner Thorton 561-686-6134 or Gary Armstrong 561-722-8444 a call you cant go wrong either way. I have a 520 gtsiu converstion that Gary just did for me and i am very pleased with the way it turned out. Good luck.

"turn correctly" is the key ............ other then that the bottom end is pretty stout compared to others and holds up good

Had mine done by Tom Jeffords. Could not be happier. Do a search on here. Several people do them, A few do them right.

To me it would be worth it to drive the hour and a half from Kissimmee to keeners and get up with Abner
