Gso 480 for sale?

Post by farmboy » Tue Aug 06, 2013 1:00 pm

I've seen several GSO 480's on here for sale and know where plenty more are between $5000-$7000 but I'm not looking for a top notch runout... I'm looking to rebuild one form the ground up so there's no need for me to pay top price on something that I'm just gonna tear apart. I already have new cylinders, pistons & rings, gearbox, ignition and fuel system. So If anybody has or knows of anything that I'm looking for 4-sale for a reasonable price please let me know (561)755-1692 Kevin.

KR23,thanks I will give them a call.
Bronson, yea just had someone else just call me saying he's got a few. But there trying to find a phone number for him.
Quick, I'm just ready to stop talking about it an go ahead and build me a 480 that's right. This motor I've got know the oil pressure is very low and needs a top end job so instead of fixing just what it needs I would just rather rebuild the whole motor that it will last . I kick myself in the a$$ for selling my last motor.

You're regretting selling the one that was on your other boat or the one you were building? Can't wait to see what you come up with. Put it on one of Kajun's race hulls!!! .....kidding kajun

No Micah I wish I would have switched motors over from the Triple W boat over to my JB. Trust me when I start on the new motor it's gonna be nasty. I'm not cutting any corners it's gonna be right with the best parts money can by cause I plain to keep this boat for a long time.

I'm far from a mechanic but it seems these engines always have problems. I was told by a reputable A/C builder it was due to the constant change in RPMs. I don't know if there is any truth to that. Kevin I'm thinking a rank 540 with a OX Box on that bad ass boat u have!

Quick, I will be using 4 or 5 ring Ross pistons.
Blown, I will be calling you this morning... Thanks!
Side jobs, I think that caddie would have its hands full pushing a 14/8 boat... Lol!
Cracker, a lot of these engines do have problems but mainly because people don't want to spend the time or money to get them right the first time. Or run the hell out of them with the wrong fuel pump or fuel system. They probably don't have the life span that a GO480 does or a normal 540 but if build right with all good parts would last somebody like me a long time. This motor that's on my boat now was just a run out that was just bolted straight on the boat (from what I've been told) so there no telling just how many hours are actually on it :dontknow: I just know there fun as hell when there right 8)

Mark, you know those gso480 guys are some hard headed fellas lol. Hell dane has put tens of thousands of dollars into braking rebuilding and repeating into his and its still broke yet again, he may never learn lol. Its okay kevin only some people will hate you if you ever switch over to a 93 -octane fuel sipper. Hahah

Dollar for dollar ifs hard to beat a 418 efi LS motor ;)

I agree 110% with you... But I will say this how much longer do u think Danes motor would last if he only turned it 3400-3500rpms instead of 4000+ ??? That does have a lot to do with it. It's the same as say a 418 turning 5600-5800 it's probably gonna last a normal person like me that don't race a lot a life time. But now someone else gets it and turns it another 700-800rpms more then what do u thinks gonna happen?
All BS aside if I wouldn't have to change all of my metal work to make it fit I would most defiantly buy a 418efi or a LSA . As much as I ride it would pay for its self in fuel in a couple of years and plus my boat would be rank as hell with either motor on it...

Sheit if you ant trying to race my buddy just did a 6.0 LS2 straight out a 06 gto. He has six grand in it turn key including harness, fast throttle body, headers, everything... turns the same prop and rpm as my 500-hp carb ls3 and burns 20% less fuel. Bang for the buck that can not be beat, even the local aircraft guys are saying it. Lmao I wont mention any names around here.

Sorry for the off topic, just throwing it out there
