carb heat and air intake

Post by grey owl » Sun Dec 08, 2013 7:07 pm

well, its starting to cool off and my season is just starting. I was out the other day and a guy commented that I had my air intake facing the wrong direction. the theory was that because the air intake was at the back of the engine and closer to the prop, the prop suck would actually create a vacuum that would accelerate carb freezing requiring me to run carb heat more often. I do freeze up from time to time but always thought it was more because of conditions and just run carb heat so not a big deal. as well having it facing that way helps reduce snow intake.
any thought would be appreciated
cheers will
