Who works on aircraft motors in South Fla?

Post by SWAMPCRACKER85 »

Anyone on here know anyone in south fla area that works on aircraft motors besides Thurman and Schmidt I know they're some of the best down here but a lil too rich for my wallet.I'd like to have my 0300 Continental looked at and try to get this blowing oil issue I have fixed along with going thru carb and starter and that can do it for a fair price if it's nothing major.Thsnks, Ronnie.

You can try don's aircraft if your near west palm but he'll probably be about the same. Might be worth a shot. Good luck.

South Florida a big place lots of guys down there .

sounds like your asking for a whole top end rebuild going to cost , you can do a leak down test to see if you could just get away with new set of rings if you need to save a few bucks

Birddog thanks yea I'm in boynton beach ill give him a shout.Goldhunter Not sure if it would need top end rebuilt supposedly the guy I bought it from swears it just had a leak down test done and everything checked out.it may need rings because its blowing blue smoke from one side as for blowing oil I think its coming from pushrods but really can't tell.Carb was leaking fuel and starter isn't engaging right which is the aircraft starter. So more than likely it will be costly.I'm not sure if carb was making boat run like crap or if I was only running on one mag gotta go thru wiring on panel to figure out what's what since some wires were disconnected

Call Don Davis, he may still have a strong running O300 sitting on a boat that you can hear run for a good price, jalopy boat and all, then you can have the other rebuilt at your leisure..
I never finish anyth,,,.

If you don't have a money tree in your back yard or a endless back account than a airboat is the wrong hobby for you lol! No matter what it's always something it seems like unless you spend money on good parts on the first go around.... A lot of guys that work on a/c motors are expensive but like "bird dog" you get what you pay for... Call Abner at Keeners machine shop 561-686-6134 I'm not gonna say he's cheaper than the people you listed but he does do some damn good work and the only person I take my stuff to.

I really appreciate all the help on this guys ill go down the list and see who will be able to look it over for me.I got burnt on the deal when I bought it and now paying for it.I didn't get to test drive the boat only got to see and hear it run and now kicking myself for it ! You live and you learn.I know running aircraft is expensive but I know they're reliable when put together right. We'll see what happens I'm going to degrease motor get mags hooked up right and take it in to someone to pin point the leak and get carb and starter looked at

You get what you pay for! Pay now or pay later eventually you will pay. It just depends if you want to pay the mechanic or pay the bank. Good luck I know the feeling.

Thanks everyone Im going to re wire the mags to new switches and ground location.I think I was only running on one mag and think that's where most my problems were coming from.Once I redo that and degrease motor and it continues then plan b will to be to start making phone calls to everyone nentioned.
