need help with lycoming h2ad
I recently bought a h2ad and got it on my boat and noticed oil pressure was at 10psi hot is the any other reason for low oil pressure besides main bearings before I split the case? Oil pump was a little worn and the oil pressure relief ball was a little rough and there is 7 washers in the relief valve. Also could I use angle valve cylinders in this motor or can I only use the h model cylinders

Yes it's a wide deck if you were asking so could I use 0320 angle valve cylinders if there also wide deck?

Re: need help with lycoming h2ad
Would a fairly pitted oil pressure relief ball cause oil pressure to be this low?

Realistically . . . . no.

Re: need help with lycoming h2ad
Oil pressure does come up but not by much. 10 psi idle to maybe 20 to 25 at 1200

Re: need help with lycoming h2ad
Ive owned 2 of these motors & never had a problem with low oil pressure, now have seen fluctuations & screen was dirty or pitted ball,on another note I just done top job on mine & my oil pressure changed & cant figure out why, before the top job my pressure was 75 cold at 1800rpm &70 up ta temp at same rpm & 50 idle up to temp, now whenI take off cold my gauge says 100 for bout 5minutes & then drops back to 70 running & 45-50 idle, don't understand that 1,top job has nothing to do with oil pressure, havnt got that figured out yet!

Re: need help with lycoming h2ad
I was at about 30 with warm engine not hot then changed a cylinder with new rings and ran at jolly a couple weeks ago it was my first time out with my new hull and this motor. I screwed with the ball a little and my oil pressure went even lower I'm gonna grab a new ball and spring from Don George inn my way home today and see if that fixes it but I'm not getting my hopes up

X2.....weak spring AND pitted ball could easily be the problem....easy and cheap to find out!tonyld67 wrote:Mmm,maybe a weak spring & pitted ball,if all screens r clean,if the parts dnt cost u much Iwould try sping & ball /4 splitting case! Just a thought
