220 GPU , Holley 500 Main Jet size.

Postby jopete » Thu Sep 18, 2014 8:58 am

while swapping out my mag yesterday, i got to looking at my flexpipe and man it looks like that boat is running rich. it's always been like that since i've had the boat. i'm thinking my next project will be to tear the carb abart and see what size the main jets are and rejet accordingly.
the boat starts awesome, cold or hot now, just thinking that i still have some power not being used.

anybody know what size main jet they are running in their holley 500 with a stock GPU to give me a referance point? i have used the search feature and learned alot, but most carb questions seem to get sidetracked and end up talking about cutting their grass or eating crabs or stuff like that!!!!!!

thanks

yea I remember that was my post and we ended up with #74 jets everything else remained as it was out of the box and the plugs showed a nice clean burn top and bottom with the 74's......maybe a tad fat but better than too lean imo......also ya might get a better fuel burn with that new mag in there now might be worth a look see before ya start changing jets

My GPU is all stock other than the carb, which happens to be a holley 2 barrel, 50cc accelerator pump, cheap $15 Advance Auto air filter, and I plugged all vacuum lines. Works like a champ.
