Ok folks I'm a Car Motor dude trying to help Sam with this project.....and I have questions.
1. Does someone have a diagram of how to time and orient the mags?
2. Can some one post a wiring diagram for the ignition wires?
We pulled it up on TDC + 25 deg but dont know how to clock the mags or set up the base timing?
Please help?
Thanks,

You want to find top dead center on #1. Then you want to back it up 25 degrees. It looks like you added 25 degrees. Take the plug out of the top of the mag and turn it until you see a red mark on one of the teeth. Line it up center of the window. On a impulse mag you need to snap it thru the window and back it up to the center of the window. It will help if you hold the shaft still with a screwdriver on the end of the shaft under the points cover. Once you get it in place a piece of cellophane for a cigarette pack between the contacts on the points, you will have to take something and hold them open to get it in. After it's clamped in pull lightly and turn mag until it pulls free. Tighten it down and do the rest of the wires.
As far as a wiring diagram all you have to do is ground out the p lead or wire coming out of the mag to shut it off, to do this just run the wire to one side of a switch and a wire from the other side of the switch back to the mag case. When the contacts are closed it will kill the mag.

I had the vent plugs out of the mags and only find a dot to line up? I'm guessing need to open the mags and set them up internally , then install into engine that's on TDC -25deg- thats marked on the flywheel?

JT I will call you today.

Thanks SA for the help ...we will get it eventually...LOL.

Oh yeah I forgot to add.....

When you have had a few beers and been riding all day......then decide to work on brand new mags a SA brother sends ya'll.......it aint a great idea to be sitting on a side rail of a boat eyeballing a mag trying to figure out how to line it up and have your sweaty hand on the outputs when you spin it!

SOB I thought I had a heart attack.....pretty sure I jellied my shorts too!

I believe jt sent ya slick mags....ya don't time them thru the window or vent hole...ya use a timing pin that goes thru the hole on the distributor block...that puts the mag at the #1 firing position...if ya don't have a pin a large tooth pick will do...also when you set it at 25 btdc set it in the direction of rotation to remove all the gear lash

those are the old series of mags they don't even have a timing pin hole that I saw. I can walk you through it over the phone but it may require buying a 50 dollar timing box. just to let you know
