10 to 1 pistons

Post by riverrat1 » Tue Nov 03, 2015 6:28 pm

So thinking of putting 10-1 pistons in my true 520 fuel injection motor, how big of a difference will it make in HP, is it worth it.

I only run av gas, just wondering if it is worth the trouble, he'll it goes where I point it now. It should be around 300hp as it is at 2850 rpm so what's the gain you think.

I also have a 520 continental "gitsu". It is fresh with std pistons. Often wondered if it would be worth the up-grade? It goes any where I point it now. Guess I'm no different than the rest of you, always looking for more. "It's a disease".

Out of curiosity, where do you get 10to1's for a 520. I thought the high comp 8.5to1's were the upgraded pistons (300 hp).

My motor has gitsu juggs
With 10to1 pistons
I don't know what the difference is with standard
But I know the difference from my 220 with dome pistons is and it's a lot
I had my motor built by warrior motors in Palm city
He can get you the piston's
My motor is 285 hp it will go any where

My understanding is the highest compression pistons for a 520(5.25 bore) is like 8.6:1. In order to increase compression, you have to mill the case halves. of course with custom pistons I guess anything is possible

1500.00 is way more than you should pay for Pistons. You can have Ross build you a cyst set for around 170.00 each. Bumping up your compression is one of the biggest power gains you can get for an aircraft motor. The next best thing for performance is a properly tuned crisp fuel injection!
