pirate the 541 cylinders are a completely different animal. they are same bore and stroke but the flange location is different on the 541 it moves the cylinder head closer to the block creating more compression. however they are not just a bolt on and go. they have to be modified to work right. whe done you can make big power with big compression and the heads are fairly tough.

Its been a while but I'm back on this project. I found a complete o290 that needs a little work. Can you put o360 or o540 cylinders on the o290 case?

The cases have to be bored to accept the bigger jugs. And a 290 crank would make a 320 inch motor when using 540 or 480 jugs. O 435 jugs will fit but 435s are not know for a lot of power

So the next question is: Is it worth doing? Can I get 150 hp out of it? Again, I am wanting to build a "sporty" little deck over ride boat.

Hey Fellows

I am looking for someone that can bore my 290 case to accept 320 cylinders.
Got any recommendations?

Mike

What about rig a trailer with sides that drop? Drive onto trailer, in normal fashion. Turn left, drive off. As we say, it's all in the rigging.... Think that would work?
