can anyone tell me what motor this is
I got this motor from a guy that had it in his garage for a few years. I was able to get it running and it sounds pretty good too. Im just hoping that someone can help identify this engine. I can get more/better pictures if needed. Also there is some play in the crankshaft, not only when I rotate back and forth but also pushing the crank in and pulling out it will move, doesn't seem normal to me...

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
there should be a plate on intake i think with id numbers and specs.
If i had to guess its got angle valve heads like my old io 540.but it looks like a 180/200 lycoming.
Try to find any numbers u can and goggle them should lead u to some info hopefully.hope this helps and there r some great AC guys on this site so hopefully they will see and help
Y all plz besafe.

Looks like a Lycoming O-360, angle valve, narrow deck. Was probably rated at 200 hp.

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
I'm thinking 0320 because of the intake tubes look small in the pictures.

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
it looks like the motor a friend of mine once owned with that oil block on top it was there to oil the lifters i was told o290 case had solid lifters with 0480 jugs about 165-170 hp did a pretty good job on the 10' franny taylor hull he had and a little play is normal in both directions

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
its similar to it i bought the franny taylor hull from him back in 1985 it needed a little work that he didnt want to fool with it he put the motor on a gore hull the last time i saw the boat his little brother had it that was about 1988
theres a picture of the f taylor in my pic gal after i fixed it up ( sorry dont know how to pull the pic from there to here)

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
I would agree with BonnetWalker. The extra oil lines tell the tale I believe.

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
I to, believe BonnetWalker to be correct.
It looks eerily similar to my 290, that has been retrofitted with 435 AV cylinders. My external topside plumbing is done out of hard line rather than flexible hose though. I don't know and/or can't see enough from those pictures to confirm or deny that possibility.
If you post a pic of the side view(s) w/o the flywheel it would aid in ID-ing the case.
If the prop flange is welded on the crank that is a dead give away it was a 290G (gpu) in its former life.
That does not work both ways though, since it could have got a 320 crank with the AV cylinders.

My dumbass found the tag, cleaned it up and heres the info on it.. I guess now my question would be what jugs are these? From AV 435? 3 of the jugs have a number that reads 73869 and one jug reads 72224. Thanks guys.

Doesnt the I in IO-320-E2A stand for fuel injected? How is there a carb on this intake?

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
yes sir u r wright about the letter (I) being for injection.
Its like on my old io-540 had bendix fuel injection but some guys like the carb because its easier to work on.but that motor will make a great motor for ur boat and Sip Fuel
Y all besafe out there

Re: can anyone tell me what motor this is
That is a 290 ground power case. Where the flange is cut around the crank gives it away. It was a solid lifter motor, hence the oil lines added. That sump is a common one people would add to those cases in order to put an up draft carb on it. Original had a downdraft carb on it. The tag on it has nothing to do with that motor. It also came with parallel valve cylinders. Unless the case was cut to take larger bore cylinders they are prob 0435 cylinders. They are great little motors, I've had two. But none the less they are a bastard motor with parts from many different series of motors.
