Jumpy tach on lycoming 4 banger

Postby GeeLeDouche » Thu Jul 20, 2017 10:50 pm

My friends and I are trying to help a fellow Airboater out with his jumpy tachometer on a 4 banger lycoming. I don't know much about this and figured I would turn to the experts. My best guess is the tach generator or tach sender isn't working properly. Any thoughts on what to look at next?

The signal is coming from the yellow / back wires on the right side of the silver contraption in the picture. Maybe it could just be a bad signal?

Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
