the carb is off a 6 cyl 210 franklin engine......should be an oil screen behind the nut I believe...never seen a sump screen on a 360 like that but there are a lot of different engine models....also don't seem like much prop for a 360 ....sweet little boat !!!

I think the old man who owned this boat for so long may have had the timing retarded to run 93 pump gas if so how can I check the timing?

the easiest and most accurate way to find what the timing is set at in degrees btdc would be with an aircraft timing wheel and magneto timing/syncro light...I know there are a lot of different ways to figure out ABOUT where the timing is but this is what I use....if and only if your flywheel is installed properly you can use those timing marks on the fly wheel and the light

pulled the big nut off bottom of sump its the oil pump suction screen it was just clean engine oil. pulled the oil filter screen between the mags and found some small black particles look like carbon deposits and also some small metals flakes. should i be worried about the metal, not sure when the last time the oil filter screen was pulled and cleaned the tach shows 1154 hrs i have ran 4hrs runs great. going to fill with fresh oil then run how many hours should i run the engine before i pull the screen again to check? thanks

I change my oil and add lucas oil stabilizer every 15-20 hrs and check and clean the oil screen cause after all that is the oil filter on your engine unless a remote filter has been installed....if it was me and I didn't know when the last time the screen was cleaned and it did have some sparkle in it I would change the oil clean the screen and run the engine for a few hours and check the screen for any additional metal...that would help tell ya if the orginal metal was along time coming or if something was going on inside the engine right now and give ya a good starting point for future maintiance
