Re: Tach ?
If it's mechanical any of the airboat makers will have them. They run from 60 to 100 dollars for the gage, 15 or so for the cable
Re: Tach ?
No you don't need rush out and buy a tach. If it was a oil pressure gauge I would say wait, but a tach is only telling you what your turning.

Re: Tach ?
I know a lot of guys that don't run a tach.....the do however us a tach to set their prop so that wot is within safe limits ...then they know they are not over revving the engine

10 4 I appreciate the info, from what I gather I should change the cable and tach together

Re: Tach ?
The cable screws onto the back of the Tach, so you can change cable or tach separately. Unless the tach is obviously broken, the issue could be at the engine drive end, the cable itself or the tach itself.

I still think I-10 is the Mason Dixon line.

Re: Tach ?
Some motors also required a tach reversing adapter. It would be on the motor side of the tach cable.

More like $15/foot!!

Replacing them independently of each other is no problem.

Re: Tach ?
Got my Stewart Warner tach from Summit Racing online. mechanical tachs come in several different ratios (under driven - over driven), need to make sure you get the right ratio (ask me how I know)

You can take your old Cable to a truck stop and they can make you a new one or classic airboats
