Perplexed by Mag ID

Postby DHam » Tue Apr 09, 2019 10:33 pm

Have 0-320 with a mag drop issue. GMAC gave me some input on a previous thread and I Have searched the forum and have a list of leads to go through. This all prompted me to read the bendix manual. So here comes my question. My id plates show my impulse mag is S4LN-21 and my other Mag is S6LN-23. Manual says the 6 designation is for 6cyl??? Is it as simple as somebody used a S6 case and filled it with parts to run a 4cyl? Thanks for your thoughts.

welcome to the world of Frankenstein mags and carbs.....all the cases in the 20/200 series are basically the same ...the tags are from factory assembly......the s6ln-23 mag is oem on the 220 gpu but can easily be converted to a 4cyl mag by changing internal parts and the setup....so to answer your question yes it is that simple

  I guarantee these boys know a helluva lot more than I. Really appreciate all the Info and knowledge you guys share. Funny thing is my dad bought this boat in’83. I ran it in the ground my whole life. 36 years later I’m finally learning something about how to keep it together. Thank you all.
