Fred White owner of White's Preformance , White's Machine and White's Racing Engines from Kingsport Tenn. will be riding and sliding with us this weekend. Fred and staff were in Florida for a trade show and wanted to take his staff on an airboat ride. We will be showing them the south end of The Loop, the Eagle, Sleepy Hollow, Orange St canal and the River.

How has that motor worked out for you? I'm considering the 450 hp for the build that I'm planning.

Wish I was with you guys riding this weekend. Boat still not ready for the water but I know for a fact those white motors perform. You guys be safe and have a cold one for me at Sleepy Hollow. We should be back in business soon at least hopefully for my sanity. :violent1:

Fred saw what we do with his motors . He rode his first airboat , drove his first airboat , and now plans to own his first airboat. It was a fun day , for all and I think we have some Tenn. boys hooked on airboating.

Fred said they have a new 434 sbc with twin turbo making 1100+ hp on 93 pump gas. Myself and Screamin Eagle afforded our boats as R&D test boats , we thought it was the least we could do for them.LOL

Had a small oil leak around billet timing chain cover, that the White staff noticed leaking. Told them we had done everything to stop it , but nothing worked so far. BOOM , in the mail today new timing chain cover from Mr. White. Can't say enough good about these folks. We plan on going up to Bristol for NASCAR race with them, and them returning for a spring airboat ride with us.

Just call Fred White and tell them you want a motor for an airboat. They will know what cam to use according to what rpm you are planning on using. They are great to work with. In my case I wanted the torque band around 4000 and they hit it dead on and max rpm @ 6000. On the dyno it makes 539 @ 5400rpms, and thats all I turn it.

The components in that engine would make a fine airboat engine. Needs a different cam. I would spend the money to upgrade to a hydraulic roller and go bigger. That combo actually makes it's peak torque too low. Junglecat had them test a few cams on his combo. They prob have a good idea what to use.

I have been drooling over their motors since the day I saw their motors on Ebay. I'm about to start a new build and I plan on running one of their motors but cant decide which one. I'm thinking one of the 427's. I'm definitely going with a 13' 6" Scorpion with the new Ox Box gear box with the clutch so I can't wait! Junglecat, what motor did you end up going with?

Huh, I tried getting a spec on a build. I found out my money wasn't interesting enough for Charley or Fred to follow up. My money went to MAS. :salute:

This really has nothing to do with Fred's engines. I grew up in the Tri-Cities, Bristol, Kings Port and Johnson City. All are now days growing together. I had been gone since the late 60' and when I visited back home a couple years ago, naturally I was looking for a place to run airboats. The rivers are too rocky and the levels change dangerously fast due to the generation schedules of the Hydro Plants. The lakes, or at least South Holsten Lake is near 200' deep and is no place for an airboat. I was saddened indeed to find no worthy place to run an airboat. I am wondering if Fred has found some place up there to go airboating. On the deep lakes I would much rather have a pontoon boat or just a kicker boat runabout since they handle the waves far better than an airboat. I would have to question my own sanity to put an airboat on the deep lakes of the TVA.

What is the relationship if any between Skip White Performance and Fred White Performance, both on Ebay, both in same area?

Fred is talking about us building him a boat this summer and he will suppy powerplant ,he will keep it down here in Citrus County at brother in law's shop. He said he may just find him something to buy down here on the water. Some of the guys from the engine shop are coming down here again to ride next month. They just sent a new cam grind to run , and we are going to test the new AFR carbon fiber intake on one of our motors. Brother in law actually has two more of their motor kits coming in next week to build. He is also putting a 700hp sbc from Whites in a 60's chopped and lower pickup. White's has been great to work with get to know.
