Ox Drive

Post by lil_armond » Mon Sep 09, 2013 12:54 pm

So here's the deal, I don't know where Dan is or what he is up to but he needs to contact us. A very nice boat was just finished and the combonation was built specific to a box ratio. A lot of money was spent in doing so and he needs to make right by sending us gears to swap the ratio like you said you would. I dont care if he just sends us the drawings so we can machine them ourselves but something needs to be made right. The box was originally ordered as a 2.88:1 and he sent us what he said was a 2.68:1 because it was all he had. Keep in mind that we were told all this after we recieved the box. Well the story goes even deeper, the boat made it's maiden voyage yesterday and come to find out the box isn't a 2.68:1 either. To the best of our knowledge by hand rotating the prop and counting true motor revolutions it is a 2.3 at best. Way to much money was dropped on this box for this kind of treatment from someone who is trying to get a product off the ground. All I can say is that if lying to a customer out of the gate is how you are starting out a sale well, that is probably why you are in the situation you are in from what I hear right now. The stand up thing to do would be to make this situation right and help us out so we can get this box where it should be.

If anyone out there happens to have a Clutch model 2.88:1 let me know we sure could use it.

Yeah but we would have to cut and adapt perfectly fine rigging. May have to just cut our own set of gears. Clutch and plumbing is already ran and it would look like crap with all the holes from removed parts. Hoping we can figure something out but in the end if we have to then we have to.

Have you done a search on here for "Dan the airboat man" or "ox box"? That might give a good idea of what is going on.

I believe the ox box is an excellent box. I sure hope this has a good ending for all involved. Does any one really know where Dan is? I was just wondering if the rumors are true. I was hoping to upgrade to the clutch assembly but I can't reach him either.

I read on a post hes doin oil field in tx if he is workin oil field here he's busting ass hard it pays really good tho you don't have a life on the downside iv done it awhile they don't play, if that's the case maybe he will bring back what he's made and undo his wrongs paying those back he owes, but then again this is 2013 and a mans handshake and word isn't all its worth anymore it seems. That's sucks man hope you have a positive turnout in the end

What's your degree wheel pointing at? 125-134-151?

I believe we have it all taken care of now. A gentleman PM'd me and has 10+ sets of the 2.88 gears so we should have the box off and sent to them so they can do the swap for us in a few days.

If Dan is in Texas I hope it works out for him and he can make things right. Personally I have no problems with the box, it looks good and operates like it should. Maybe someone will buy his rights out and procede with the box.

Interesting way to know ratio. Especially if running a 360 degree balancer. :)

Doesn't matter anymore, just had a good phone call and I have faith that everything will be taken care of now. It is setteled and as far as I am concerned this thread is dead.

Thank you for your help, it is greatly appreciated and you know who you are.

Lil Armond do you think you might be interested in selling the old gears out of your box? I got a friend who I think is looking for 2:37 ratio for his ox. I wonder if the person you speak of can also furnish clutch components? If you like pm me.
