what is the best gear box ratio for a 2001 bone stock ls1

I have a bone stock 2001 ls1 camero engine from craigslist in a 1985 12' panther hull with a kway I think 2.12 turning an old 78" x 56 pitch wood sensenich kevlar wrap tips. I turn it 4900 to 5000 most days rarely 5100 rpm. The boat runs great on the hill. My question is it worth switching to a 2.68 I have a friend that I could possibly trade boxes with.

YES ITS WORTH THE TRADE BUT THAT PROP WILL HALF TO GO JMO IF IT RUNS GOOD NOW IT WILL EVEN RUN BETTER IF U GET A CARBON PROP

I agree also about the carbon I have partnerships on 2 other boats with carbon and like them both. This boat was put together with what ever i could find free or cheap. So the question now is 2 or 3 blades and which prop

If you have a chance to swap your 2.12 for a 2.68 box, jump at it. Yes, after the box swap you will need a new blade or blades. Lots of advice here on that, and some used available on the classifieds. Bud
