NEW 426CI Gen III HEMI AIRBOAT COMING VERY SOON

Post by kjs427 »

Its official!!!!!!! starting this over 2 months ago I wanted something different but didn't want to spend stupid money doing it. I started with Dave at Water Thunder, but being a LS specialist it proved to not to be a very cost effective build in a hurry against his LS engines HP per $, so that quickly fizzled the Hemi cores are big $$$$. Moved on to couple other custom engine builders with the same results. BUT while at home looking through a issue of MOPAR magazine i found ARRINGTON Performance in a big article. They are one of the premiere Hemi builders out there and were glad to step up to the plate and build me a custom 600hp +- airboat engine(wont know exact till its dyno'd) VERY comparable in price to the Water Thunder line in both price and HP. They are great to deal with have a 3yr warranty. Engine will be custom built, stroked, cnc ported heads, Diamond pistons....you get the picture. Then tuned with a fast EFI system on a dyno, crated, and shipped ready to go. It will come with all dyno sheets and paper work which will make life good for choosing a prop and box. Should be done in about 2weeks.

It will be shipped to Shane at Dyna Marine where it will be set in one of their new open hull airboats. I shopped around no doubt, but in the end it came down to time frame, who i was comfortable with and someone close. Shane has had several of his boats out here in Fremont Nebraska with one of his associates who just happens to be my neighbor. They are great looking boats, My neighbor got me in touch with Shane and it was a done deal. So.. i will have to say thanks to everyone i have talked too through this about building a HEMI airboat. Thanks to Wade at Hamnet,Kim at Nirbuilt and Dave for letting me ask a thousand questions!!!!I have met a lot of great people on here the short time i have been on here!!

Thanks Everyone
Keith

Oh and Boat should be done oh......May ish or so......!! Will Post pics soon as it gets a bit farther along!!!

Arrington offers anything from mild to wild 425hp to 800hp go to shophemi.com. All their engines get broke in,dyno'd and come with a letter of authenticity. Plus their website is awesome!!!

I would Love to have a HEMI AIRBOAT but with that being said what do you do about a starter being you have no Tranny to bolt it to? Maybe I am missing something

This would be a GEN III 426 Cubic inch hemi. Working with COAN Transmissions and DYNA Marine with their custom builders on a custom Adapter plate. Coan makes them now for the Gen III to adapt a powerglide behind the mopar.

Glad to see this getting done. Have always wondered why no one had at least given it a good chance to work. With the people that you are working with if its going to work out, it will

Sounds like waterthunder is gonna run with a hemi build based on his thread where he posted the chrysler logo! Now we can infer where that idea came from!
Currently boatless but not for long

Lol....as to who was or is gonna be "first" well I can't answer to that. When I posted on here almost a month ago no one had anything to offer. I made a lot of phone calls, talked to a lot of people who had never heard of or seen one built :dontknow: . Started reading all the threads on here and posted a topic "if any one had built a hemi yet". Only couple responses. Called and talked to dave, i also talked to a lot of people have thought about it but again no leads to someone who has or currently is. A lot voiced their opinion it wouldn't be worth the extra money, some flat said don't waste your time and I completely respect that.

Either way if it truley hasnt been done, then i guess keeping it a secret and not offering up any info is understandable, especially from a buissness standpoint. I searched, found a builder to stand behind his product and I wrote the check!!! If anyone else is building one please chime in I would like to know what your experiences are?have there been any challenges?? What EFI setup did u use holley, fast, Mopar performance?? Either way I'm new and i have owned mopars and fords most my life I'm fine with spending a few extra$$$ to try something new and different.

One thing I can say I will be one of the first ones to do it!!!

Been useing COAN for a while on some new and old school Mopar builds. Great folks to deal with and their adaptors are always perfect. Now with that being said....the guys a DynaMarine will have to do some clearancing on the gearbox housing to make the starter work. Not that big of deal for them I'm sure. Congrats on the new boat!

I will say I'm pretty stoked Keith is letting us build his boat. We've talked back and forth about it and I agreed with him, building a new Gen Hemi airboat wiuld just be plane bad azz! Fits my style, gotta be a little different! I figured we have a few minor work throughs like the starter clearance, motor mounts and maybe some headers.

Thanks again Keith, this is gonna be fun!!!

Congratulations on the new boat.

I like the looks of the new open hull that dyna-marine is building. Their new open hulls do great tricks also.

Looking forward to seeing it out on the river.

This project sounds very cool! I just want to know, is the boat going to be plum crazy purple, sublime, go-mango, or Hemi Orange? I am curious if you live at Woodcliff in Fremont? If so, we will have to get together and ride sometime this summer, I'd love to see your boat!
