383 SBC Carb ?

Postby Patrick » Mon Sep 29, 2014 11:54 am

Just wondering how big a carb [cfm] you all are running on your 383 chey engines. We have a 750 Holley vac secondary on ours. 14 foot Panther, 2.68 Rotator and Whirlwind 78 inch 3 blade, 13 inch wide. The motor makes about 425 h.p. Thanks Pat

Had a 383 making in low 400's for power. 2.68 box and 3 (R) blades set at almost 3 mark turning 5600. Had a really good working 600 cfm holley that was tuned and jetted properly. Installed a 750cfm Holley and picked up 200 RPM's at WOT. Calculator says it only takes like 570cfm but the built in prop dyno told a different story.

I had a 750 double pumper on mine.. When I rebuilt it the last time and pumped up the power
a little bit I couldn't jet it up enough to darken the plugs. I went to an 850 AED and jetted it
down a little.

Ive put 3 750 quickfuels on airboats 383, 383, 400ci and all 3 worked perfectly right out of the box. No adjusting other than the rear float level. Get the SS.
