Check filter and change it, if ok then pull pan, pull pump and check it out, sounds like some rvt from the build in bypass valve or?

What rpm when at idle? If no metal is found check the by-pass in the pump. What are the clearances of rods and mains? With that low of oil pressure something is loose and IMHO won't live long on an airboat. Stock pump should net you 20 to 25 psi hot at 700 to 800 rpm. I build them loose but they have to be freshened often to live. If everything is ok try a different pump. If you feel you have to run this engine this way atleast put 6qts of 50wt Brad Penn oil in it. With a HV pump in a stock pan and continued high rpm you MUST put one extra qt of oil in there.

You have some really good advice offered up. I agree first pull the filter and see what you got. My opiion is at that point also change the oil to something a little heavier say 20-50wt and add in a quart of Lucas Engine Oil Stabilizer. See if the pressure goes up with it spinning below 3,000 rpm I don't think your sucking air. May be piss thin synthetic oil and sloppy clearances. It's a cheap test.

Use the Lucas

Should I just put conventional oil in I don't see the need for synthetic

I would get rid of the synthetic. Have you been running that since you got the engine back? The rings wont seat/seal with synthetic. Maybe thats why your down on power. I would use the Penn grade break-in like loudmouse mentioned, then switch it to Penn 20-50. And DEFINETLY put a 7 qrt pan on it. 7 in pan + 1 in filter = 8 quarts = happy engine. You might not be sucking the pan dry being its a DD (low RPMS) but the extra volume helps reduce oil temp. Your oil temp is hotter than your water temp.

Oh and if you do switch pans, get the correct pickup!!!

Doubt its a cam bearing or pump issue. My pick is #1 rod bearing starting to go.
