Chevy big block dd on a 13'6 hull ?

Post by Shippee123 » Mon Mar 16, 2015 10:38 am

Opinions, was planning on a small block but the motor is practically being given to me and all's I have is the build cost.

Thanks in advance

I would put that in the why ask why category. :D
Unless it is some really antiquated, obscure engine to get parts for, it may be the better choice anyway.

What is it? There may be some better than others, but I would prefer a couple over a DD small block.

** EDIT ** Somehow I missed the Chevy in the title. I was thinking Caddy, or maybe Buick.
As Joe accurately points out, they are heavy and don't produce an advantageous power/weight ratio.
I sit corrected.

A vortex 350 with a good cam upgrade will by far out perform the BBC in a DD application. There's a reason you don't see many BBC DD boats, power to weight just isn't there in a DD application.

Does a cam upgrade help or still just not a good option?

Imo it's not a good option for DD. Now with a gear box there a contender. I run a 454 gear box boat.
