My simplistic way of thinking on my personal stuff I run a mechanical gauge into another oil port so if my electric takes a shit I can verify whats going on by looking at my back up.

Got any actual info on this motor build or is this just another thunder 480 thread?

Jb 550 why do you care you hate our stuff. Anyway here are a few specs. The block is a GM Performance LS7 block we honed it .005 over with a torque plate. The crank is a 4.125 stroke Callies 4340 crank shaft (short snout) the rods are Callies 4340 H Beam rods and they are 6.125 long with .927 pins. The Pistons are Mahle and coated since Mark will not be running any power adders and does not beat his stuff relentlessly like many of our customers we went with the thicker 1.5/ 1.5/ 3m ring package also utilizing a Plasma molly ring. If it were on a boat beeing beaten to death say someone like Bronson we go with the 1m/1m/3m or 2m ring package with AP steel rings. The way the boat is treated and the size of the boat dictates what ring and what ring stack we use. Of coarse we do open up or ring gaps because many airboater start a motor and floor it before the engine reaches operating temp. We have now installed a temp related RPM limiter untill the engines water temp reaches 110 degrees.

But wouldn't the computer shut the engine down without the signal or if the sensor failed?

Your talking about a different motor and EFI system than ours if a oil pressure sensor fails on ours it will not shut the engine down. I will post some more pics and info tomorrow.

Huh? On the contrary, I love your motors dave. I have never said a bad word about your motors. Hell I wanted to put one on my diamondback build but they and you were having some issues at that time....remember. Hell I am watching this build closely and may want one.

Sorry there are a few people with 550 in their title. Maybe a cont550 or something like that. She should really hit like a beast and the EFI will make her a real treat to drive. We have also done a ton of RnD in the ring stack and combo.

Next we will install the hydraulic roller lifters and guides. And then start bolting on his CNC ported Brodix heads I love the port volume to flow numbers on these heads. They flow near the same numbers as the RHS heads with less runner volume not to mention the RHS intake runners are still smaller than the big Mast Heads. I hope to post pics of this shortly.

Marks CNC ported Brodix heads.

Image

Very Happy with the components and the quality of these heads. It's obvious Brodix isn't shooting to win the CFM numbers flow bench war, but these heads will win a boat race war! Probably one of the better heads I have seen for what we want out of a port and chamber.
