Cam timing question

Postby Shippee123 » Thu Apr 23, 2015 10:45 pm

Will advancing the cam timing 4 degrees on a stock bb chevy dd help bottom end torque at lower rpm ? Or is it best left alone ?

THANKS !!

Yea, advancing the cam lowers the power band, retarding the cam raises it.

Careful though. Too much advance will lead to detonation.

Ok thanks, wasn't sure if it was worth doing on a stock engine.

Thanks again

We used 3 degrees on the 455 Buicks. Worked like a charm.

I have used 3* advanced on 500 Caddy motors many times.
