Alpha Fab - 2.4L & 2.5L Ecotec Direct Injection

Post by Alpha Fab »

Hey Folks,

Thought we'd share our newest offering - the 2.4 Direct Injection LAF/LEA and 2.5L LCV/LKW. Super solid motor[s] from the R&D we've done. On 93 pump gas we're seeing solid 220-230+ HP numbers on our calibration. Great investment for the money. Solid power and torque. Great little water motor for small to medium size boats. Next up? We're throwing our Stage 2 turbo system on and seeing what she'll really do! Should be interesting! I suspect [as our LE5's do] out spool, torque, and power the direct injected LNF/LHU/LTG variants. And save you $3K to put into your Ballistic Gear Box! I'll post videos once we get them edited!

Ecotech airboats are like mopeds, fun when nobody is looking and appreciated at the gas pumps LOL

If we were fishing for comments we probably would have edited the subject... Like popcorn gallery who spend thousands on gas guzzlers come on in!

Not many interested? Probably check on the market and where its' headed... :D

As far as spending thousands I just happen to spend my money wisely with waterthunder and have had no regrets at all. As far as gas guzzler far from it it's very good on fuel and a hell of alot more reliable than the little 4 bangers from what I have seen. They may do fine in vehicles and sand rails but they haven't exploded in airboats like some were hoping. It's obvious in the amount of comments on this post alone. Over 600 views and only you shane and Brad have commented besides myself. Good luck you gonna need it.

Ironically, The post above mine is reminiscent of a time when water thunder was doubted when he tried a new style engine in airboats.

Just switch a couple words around and you can go back in time to when people were hating on him.

Dyna and Alpha don't need luck just time for people to come out of their shells because these motors of the future obviously have a place in the airboat world given the successful testimonials of the "pioneers" of this new endeavor.

My next ride boat will very likely be an Ecotec.

Keep up the great work guys :thumbleft:

Good job guys, don't let them get you down. Its good for all of us to see new stuff hit the market, if we did not have people trying new things we would all still be using aircraft engines.

I agree with crowhater. And I don't see these motors being a direct comparison to the LS motors. Just an other option. I don't see how you can expect a 4 cyl motor to be in the same class as a Waterthunder motor. Or any other engine builders LS motor pumping out 500+ HP and Loads of TQ. Even with a turbo. But I think they sure do have a place in the airboat industry for the guy who wants an all aluminum light power plant that makes decent power. You can still run dry and go where you want to, and smile at the gas pump. That fits a lot of peoples needs. Don't get me wrong, I would love to own a boat like Tony480's, and some others. But for a lot of folks I bet the ecotec motors can get the job done.

I agree John. I've built everything from a 200hp 4-cylinder up to a 1000hp twin turbo LS boat...it's just not apples to apples. I love LOVE my LS powered boats but these little 200hp 4-cylinder Ecotech powered boats can be fun, economical boats. Even loaded down with 3 200+lb guys this little boat still ran 45mph and got 5.8mpg, not too shabby. On a true ultralite hull with some slick bottom I bet it would do even better.
