Re: gear box oil
Look up Panther airboats in Cocoa, Fl. They sell them and have a new red oil formulated just for the rotater gearbox. I tried it and it made a big difference in the old rock crusher. I bought a quart and if i remember correctly it was around $18 and worth every penny. Give them your serial number and they will tell you how much to use in your gearbox.
They are listed here in the "airboat directory" at the top of the page.

Re: gear box oil
The factory data says 24 ounces or .71 liter of "ROTATOR GREEN OIL."
If it is an old tired drive I suggest you stay with a heavy 200wt or 250wt- think Amsoil
The recent dope from Rotator is a new 110wt Red "ROTATOR RED" will reduce heat and lubricate as needed.
Some S/A members have suggested 75-110wt Red Line lube long prior to the factory change.
I have a virgin Rotator that we are going to put in service next month and we will be using the new factory "Rotator Red" lubricant. We will start a fresh thread with photos, data and field notes to test this new lubricant. Stay tuned

Re: gear box oil
There are many different flavors of Red Line lube.
The one to use in an air boat gearbox is the Heavy Shockproof Gear Oil.

Re: gear box oil
Deano has followed it for a long time, if changing to Redline the "Shockproof" product would be the better lube.
Rotator said that when they tested their "Rotator Red" lubricant that they saw heat levels decrease substantially.
