head leak

Post by roberti53 » Sat Nov 26, 2016 12:47 pm

I just found that the left head looking from the front of the engine is leaking a drop or two from the lower left. (antifreeze)
Nothing in the oil.
Do I need to worry about this? Or could I just keep an eye on it.
What would head torque be for a 454. (steel heads)

I would clean it real good and pressure test it and see exactly where it's coming from and fix it before I took it out again. A small leak can turn big fast!! I've seen the intake gasket leak slightly at the bottom and run down and look like a head gasket before. Should be easy now but could get real costly if you overheat it.
Compromise is for those that cant get it done!!
