I have one. it will go in when it quits raining. thanks but how can it go bad just sitting there. HEI is usually very dependable. it's still raining

U might want to check all your plug wires, and spark plugs while ur at it..might be getting too much resistance. Its always a good idea to keep a spare as well as these things just happen

Not for nothing, but I'd bet it is the HEI module itself, not the coil. Had that happen in area 2A last month. Boat was running fine, shut it off at a camp. Went to crank it 5 minutes later and no fire. Luckily some very nice guys out there had a spare. I swapped it and ran the rest the the weekend without issue. The module that failed was in there 7 years, and just up and died out of the blue. Now I carry a spare...

I carry a spare distributor. I'm just going to drop it in. MSD was a freebee 5 yrs ago. Not impressed heck they want $110 for there module. The petronics was like 50 when i set the other one up. thanks for the help. The weather is crap up here in MI I'll be down in FL Jan 15 till May. Wind is blowing 15 out of NW and 34 deg that make wind chill about 25.

Ignition module. Replace and use dielectric grease where it mounts on distributor base....My .02 cents

That MSD module is an open circuit board which i think can accumulate moisture on it. The other distributor fired right up (sealed module). I'm going to try to convert the MSD to a closed module like GM had for years. Very reliable

They are open because of heat failure. We have played with several GM HEI modules and the best to date was a generic Hong Kong Phoey that came in one of the billet distributors.

We ran MSD, Petronics and Accel and for the money saw no benefit and with the multi spark Petronics it took forever to get the engine to start.

I would pick up one or two of the cheapie modules off eBay and play with them. Hundreds of hours with them and work well.

At one point Whites was selling them for $5

Let us know your results if you do

my only issue is finding the pigtail to go from the other side of the 4 pin module up to the coil.
