Which prop on 2.0T Ecotec

Post by TDezso » Thu Feb 21, 2019 7:27 am

Getting ready to put an LHU on my boat. Trying to decide between a 76” Whirlwind or Sinsinech 3 blade. Need some opinions and why. Thanks

3 blade 76 Water Walker Maximus is ideal for that engine. Run a 2.3 gear ratio and pitch it to max rpm at 5200 to 5300, no more.

I have run the following props between 76 and 80 inches.

Maximus (3 Blade and 2 Blade)
Falcon (4 blade, very fast)

Whisper Tip 2.0 (4 blade, 80)

NGR (3 Blade, 76)
JR (3 blade, 80)

What I have stuck with is in my sig and currently produces 1450lbs of thrust between 5400 and 5600 rpm depending on how you pitch it.

All of the props were spun to 5600 on a 2.3 box. 2.6 box was used as well for a few months and we switched back.

Suggest you talk with Andrew at Water Walker. I am positive no-one has tested more than I have on this platform.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, I’m limited to 76” inside my cage. I think you’re friends with my buddy John with the Stossil style hull and ecotec. He’s been helping me a lot on this swap. I’m leaning towards the prop he has. I’ve always had whirlwind, but hear good things about Sinsenich.

You will have a bit more HP than me but I'm pushing 190HP with a 1.4L Turbo. Running an older 80" Whirlwind Stump Puller with a 2:1 ratio so motor is only turning 4400-4800... I peak HP and flat line from 4600-4800 with current tune and the baby turbo runs outta air past 4800.

Good luck on your build and listen to Russ... longer is better with these motors and they make power across the board.
